The photo above was taken by my wife from the right seat, soon after I learned to fly and was confident enough to carry passengers.

When I first saw the photo I was surprised to see Mount Rainier in the distance. It's not that I didn't know it was there, I had just never noticed it right there at the end of the runway.

"What!" said my wife. "How could you not have noticed?"

"Uh... I guess my mind was on other things."

"You're kidding," she said. "What other things?"

"Well, you know; like, learning how to land."
